About Us

 We are McFrankenboo BBQ out of O'Fallon, Missouri.  We are a husband and wife team who have been competing on "the circuit" since the end of 2006, although we only competed in 3 competitions during the first 2 years!  We have quite a bit of hardware to show for our efforts, including that ever elusive Grand Champion!  In October of 2010, we competed in our very first Jack Daniels Invitational World BBQ Championship after becoming the only team to ever win a GC in Mexico. 

We got our team name from a combination of Erin's maiden name, Hagenbuch (pronounced Hay-gen-Boo), and Jim's last name, Frank. The “Mc” was put on the front as Erin and Jim are both Irish, plus it's wicked fun!   

We have gone through several smokers since our first year on the circuit - a Char Broil offset that cooked very poorly so it was modified to a more suitable configuration; then to a Diamond Plate Fat 40, which was a great smoker but just way too much for us, then onto a 22” WSM and Backwoods Extended Party and now, finally, “Kandi”, our J3 model Jambo pit, that is a show stopper! 

Jim has always had a passion for cooking and Erin loves to eat. We started out in the backyard like everyone else and have moved into competitions so that others could enjoy the fruits of our labor. 

Jim is the head cook and pit master.  Erin is the master organizer, decorator, box runner, social butterfly and "booth candy"!
