We are McFrankenboo BBQ out of Glendale, AZ. We are a husband and wife team who have been competing on "the circuit" since the end of 2006. We have some hardware to show for our efforts, but we are still looking for that ever elusive Grand Champion.
We got our team name from a combination of Erin's maiden name, Hagenbuch (pronounced Hay-gen-Boo), and Jim's last name, Frank. The Mc was put on the front as Erin and Jim are both Irish, plus it's wicked fun!
We have gone through several smokers since our first year on the circuit - a Char Broil offset that cooked very poorly so it was modified to a more suitable configuration; then to a Diamond Plate Fat 40, which was a great smoker but just way to much for us, and now finally onto the WSM's and our first Grand Champion.
Jim has always had a passion for cooking and Erin loves to eat. We started out in the back yard like everyone else and have moved into competitions so that others could enjoy the fruits of our labors.
Jim is the head cook, pit master and master welder, well maybe not master welder, but with enough knowledge to turn a smoker that barely works into an awesome smoking machine.
Erin has recently been educated in the fine art of cutlery and its uses (including how to keep all fingers attached when using them), so she has graduated from master organizer, decorator and "booth candy" to Pork Butt prepper and turn in box prepper.
